BAS Specialist

Join a team that specialises in keeping critical building automation systems operating efficiently, reliably, and at peak performance. This position is centred around supporting existing customer sites, using your expertise in Tridium Niagara and HVAC controls to diagnose issues, enhance system functionality, and deliver exceptional technical service.

You'll work across a variety of commercial facilities, acting as a trusted technical resource for customers while helping them maximise the value of their building automation investments.

Our client is an established mechanical contractor with a dedicated building automation and controls division. With long-standing relationships across the commercial and institutional sectors, they provide a full range of mechanical and controls services, allowing their teams to support customers throughout the entire lifecycle of a building.
The controls division continues to expand its service presence and supports a significant installed base of Tridium Niagara and HVAC control systems throughout Connecticut. As part of a larger organisation, employees benefit from the stability, resources, and project exposure of a well-established contractor while working within a specialist controls-focused team.
Role Responsibilities
  • Service, troubleshoot, and maintain Tridium Niagara-based building automation systems

  • Diagnose and resolve HVAC controls, field device, networking, and integration issues

  • Perform system health checks, performance assessments, and preventative maintenance visits

  • Support customers remotely and on-site with technical service requirements

  • Modify and optimise Niagara programming and control strategies to improve building performance

  • Investigate alarms, communication failures, and operational issues across BAS platforms

  • Commission replacement devices and support upgrades within existing facilities

  • Configure graphics, trends, alarms, and reporting functions within Niagara systems

  • Work directly with facility managers and end users to identify and resolve operational challenges

  • Produce clear service documentation and technical reports following site visits

Required Experience and Skills
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with Building Automation Systems (BAS) or Building Management Systems (BMS)

  • Strong hands-on experience with Tridium Niagara (Niagara AX and/or Niagara N4)

  • Solid understanding of HVAC controls, sequence of operations, and mechanical systems

  • Experience troubleshooting controls systems, controllers, sensors, actuators, and network communications

  • Ability to identify root causes and provide effective technical solutions

  • Experience supporting operational and occupied buildings in a service environment

  • Strong customer-facing communication skills

  • Valid driver's licence and ability to travel locally throughout Connecticut

Additional or Desirable Experience
  • HVAC D-2 or S-2 Refrigeration Licence

  • Experience with Johnson Controls systems and integrations

  • Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, and other open protocols

  • Experience with energy optimisation and building performance improvements

  • Previous field service or service technician background
