Chicago | Transportation Project Engineer
I'm currently partnering with a growing multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm seeking a Transportation Project Engineer (Roadway Design) to join its Chicago team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated civil engineer looking to take on increased responsibility while helping expand a transportation practice that delivers impactful infrastructure projects.
You'll work alongside transportation professionals across multiple offices and contribute to roadway and transportation projects from planning through design. The firm offers a collaborative environment where employees have a voice in company growth, project delivery, and strategic decisions.
What You'll Be Doing
- Support Phase I and Phase II roadway design projects
- Prepare plans, specifications, and engineering reports
- Develop roadway design models using Civil 3D
- Assist with stormwater management and drainage design
- Prepare construction details, quantities, and cost estimates
- Coordinate with project teams, agencies, and stakeholders
- Participate in project meetings and client discussions
- Support project delivery from concept through construction documentation
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- 4-8 years of transportation or roadway design experience
- Experience working on federally funded transportation projects
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Strong communication, organization, and project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Experience developing plan sets with limited supervision
- Comfortable leading meetings and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
