Louisiana (Open to Candidates Across the State)

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Controls Technician to support the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Building Automation Systems (BAS) across commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, and mission critical facilities throughout Louisiana.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with HVAC controls, DDC systems, control wiring, and BAS platforms. This individual will be responsible for ensuring control systems operate efficiently, resolving technical issues in the field, and delivering high-quality service to customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, wire, commission, and service building automation and control systems
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose BAS, HVAC controls, networking, and communication issues
  • Interpret control drawings, wiring diagrams, sequences of operation, and technical specifications
  • Perform point-to-point checkout, startup, and commissioning activities
  • Configure, modify, and support controllers, graphics, and front-end systems
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and service work on existing control systems
  • Support system upgrades, retrofits, and integrations
  • Verify proper operation of sensors, actuators, VFDs, controllers, and field devices
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Programmers, and clients to resolve issues and maintain project schedules
  • Document field changes and assist with as-built documentation
  • Provide technical support during project turnover and customer training
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety and quality standards

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS), DDC controls, HVAC controls, or related field
  • Strong understanding of HVAC equipment and control strategies
  • Experience with one or more BAS/DDC platforms such as Siemens, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric, Tridium Niagara, Honeywell, Distech, Alerton, Delta Controls, Automated Logic, or similar systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings
  • Experience troubleshooting field devices, controllers, and communication networks
  • Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, or other building automation protocols
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer sites

Preferred

  • Technical degree, trade school certification, or equivalent field experience
  • Experience with BAS programming, graphics, or system integration
  • Understanding of IP networking fundamentals
  • Experience supporting healthcare, education, industrial, data center, or commercial building projects
  • Manufacturer certifications or factory training on BAS platforms
  • Experience with commissioning and startup activities

  • Occasional overtime, on-call rotation, or after-hours support may be required depending on project and service demands
