HVAC Controls Sales Engineer
We are looking for an experienced HVAC Controls Sales Engineer to join a growing team in the Pittsburgh, PA area. This role will focus on developing new and existing accounts across commercial and industrial markets, with an emphasis on consultative sales, customer relationships, and controls project development.
The ideal candidate will be hands-on, self-motivated, outgoing, and dependable, with the drive to succeed in a fast-paced and customer-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Meet with existing customers to review potential HVAC controls projects
- Develop scopes of work and estimated project costs
- Present solutions and proposals to customers based on their needs
- Support and expand relationships within an existing maintenance customer base
- Develop new customers and identify new market opportunities
- Perform site surveys and assess customer requirements
- Estimate, prepare, and present consultative sales proposals
- Maintain customer activity and documentation within CRM software
- Work toward company revenue and gross profit targets
- Build long-term relationships with commercial and industrial clients
Requirements
- Vocational training, a four-year technical program, or an Associate degree in mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning, HVAC, or a related field
- 5+ years of sales experience within electronic, mechanical, HVAC, or building automation systems
- Strong knowledge of HVAC controls systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, equipment installation, and service-related processes
- Ability to explain technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Understanding of financial sales concepts such as cash flow, payback, ROI, leasing vs. purchasing, and project justification
- Proven ability to develop new business and close sales
- Ability to create and execute sales action plans
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent presentation skills with a focus on customer needs, pain points, and buying motives
