About the Opportunity
A leading engineering and consulting firm is seeking an Electrical Commissioning Technician to support commissioning activities for mission-critical, industrial, healthcare, aviation, commercial, and educational facilities. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex electrical systems with a particular focus on mission-critical and data center projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare project-specific commissioning scopes and assist with project budgeting.
- Review project documents for constructability and commission-ability.
- Develop and review commissioning plans, including pre-functional checklists and functional performance tests.
- Review contractor submittals for compliance with contract requirements.
- Coordinate commissioning site visits and project deliverables.
- Perform on-site commissioning activities, testing, and system verification.
- Prepare and distribute commissioning field reports.
- Review electrical testing documentation, including NETA, megger, and torque reports.
- Verify and evaluate emergency power system performance.
- Review contractor-provided training materials and O&M documentation.
- Prepare final commissioning reports and project closeout documentation.
- Support construction administration and field coordination efforts.
- Review electrical drawings, panel schedules, one-line diagrams, and sequences of operation.
- Assist with due diligence studies and project inspections.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal project teams.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Associate Degree.
- Knowledge of electrical system installation, operation, and commissioning.
- Familiarity with normal and emergency power systems.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly.
- Strong communication and training abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and commissioning software.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet project site requirements, including background checks and drug screenings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Commissioning certification (CxA) or willingness to obtain.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.
- Experience with mission-critical facilities, data centers, or complex electrical infrastructure projects.
