Position Overview
A leading electrical contractor is looking for an experienced Safety Superintendent to support electrical construction projects across the Charleston area.
This individual will provide senior-level safety leadership across assigned projects, ensuring compliance with company standards, OSHA requirements and electrical safety regulations while developing a strong safety culture across field teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safety leadership and oversight across electrical construction projects.
- Supervise and mentor site Safety Coordinators and Safety Specialists.
- Conduct regular site audits, inspections and safety observations.
- Develop and maintain site-specific safety plans (SSSPs).
- Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings and training initiatives.
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Monitor safety performance, trends and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC and applicable safety regulations.
- Partner closely with Project Managers, Superintendents and field leadership.
- Identify hazards during planning and construction and implement appropriate controls.
- Review subcontractor safety programs and site performance.
- Deliver training covering electrical hazards, lockout/tagout, fall protection and confined space.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation and reporting.
- Drive a proactive safety culture across project teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of safety experience within electrical or industrial construction.
- 3+ years in a supervisory or senior safety position preferred.
- Strong knowledge of electrical construction hazards and field safety practices.
- OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 preferred.
- CHST, CSP or equivalent safety certification advantageous.
- NFPA 70E training.
- Current First Aid/CPR training.
- Strong understanding of OSHA requirements and construction safety programs.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with field employees, Superintendents and Project Management teams.
Ideal Background
This would suit an experienced Safety Superintendent, Senior Safety Manager or Site Safety Manager who has worked directly within electrical contracting, MEP construction or heavy industrial construction and understands the specific hazards associated with electrical installations.
