Burgess Services, a second-generation construction management firm, is seeking an experienced HSE Manager / HSE Supervisor to oversee health, safety, and environmental compliance on a major construction project in the Denver area. This role is ideal for a safety professional who thrives in the field, enjoys working closely with operations teams, and is committed to maintaining the highest safety standards on complex construction projects.
Position Overview
The HSE Manager will lead all site safety efforts during night shift operations, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, project-specific requirements, and company safety programs. This individual will serve as the primary safety resource for project personnel, subcontractors, and management while helping foster a proactive safety culture across the jobsite.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all on-site safety and environmental programs during night shift operations
- Conduct daily safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
- Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and employee training sessions
- Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and pre-task plans
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns while implementing corrective actions
- Maintain safety records, training documentation, and regulatory compliance requirements
- Coordinate injury response, first aid procedures, and return-to-work programs
- Work directly with project management, subcontractors, and owners to promote jobsite safety
- Participate in construction and safety meetings while providing safety guidance to field personnel
- Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions exist
Required Qualifications
- Construction safety experience supporting heavy civil, industrial, infrastructure, commercial, or large-scale construction projects
- One of the following certifications:
- CSP with 4+ years of construction safety experience
- ASP, GSP, or SMS with 6+ years of construction safety experience
- CHST or OHST with 8+ years of construction safety experience
- OSHA 500 certification
- Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office
- Strong communication, leadership, and incident investigation skills
- Ability to work nights and travel throughout the Denver Metro area as needed
