Project Architect (K-12 Education)

Location: Denver/Boulder
Compensation: $90,000 - $115,000 annually

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a licensed Project Architect to lead and support the design, documentation, and delivery of complex K-12 education projects. This individual will play a key role in coordinating project teams, overseeing technical execution, and ensuring the successful completion of projects from concept through construction administration.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality architectural solutions. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams while contributing to meaningful educational environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate project teams through all phases of design and documentation.
  • Manage and collaborate with internal disciplines and external consultants to achieve project goals.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with client expectations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Participate in business development and proposal efforts, including project scoping and pursuit support.
  • Apply a thorough understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Make informed design and technical decisions throughout project execution.
  • Direct the production of high-quality construction documents and specifications.
  • Assist with programming, budgeting, and project planning as needed.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews to ensure document accuracy and completeness.
  • Attend client meetings and provide interpretation of construction documents during project execution.
  • Oversee construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs, submittal reviews, and site observations.
  • Collaborate across multiple offices, studios, or practice areas to support project success.
  • Contribute to firm-wide initiatives that advance design quality, technical excellence, and project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited architectural program.
  • Active architectural licensure required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional architectural experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects from concept through construction administration.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems, construction methods, specifications, and industry best practices.
  • Experience producing high-quality construction documents for complex projects.
  • Proficiency in Revit and familiarity with Autodesk AEC software platforms and cloud-based project collaboration tools.
  • Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and client-management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate consultants.
  • Experience working with K-12 school districts is required.
  • Portfolio demonstrating successful K-12 education projects is highly preferred.

Leadership Responsibilities

This role may include direct supervision and mentorship of architectural staff and designers. Responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting staff growth and project success

Travel & Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with a combination of desk work, meetings, and collaboration.
  • Regular project site visits and client meetings required.
  • Occasional travel within the project region may be necessary.
  • Ability to perform site observations and navigate active construction environments.
