Project Manager - Geologist / Environmental Scientist
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Compensation: $80,000-$90,000
A growing environmental consulting firm is seeking a Project Manager - Geologist/Environmental Scientist to join its Indianapolis team. This is an opportunity to join a stable, privately held organization with a strong project backlog, long-tenured staff, and a track record of steady growth.
The successful candidate will take a lead role in managing environmental assessment and remediation projects while working directly with clients and technical staff on a wide range of investigation and redevelopment projects throughout Indiana.
Responsibilities
- Manage environmental investigation and remediation projects from planning through completion
- Oversee soil, groundwater, and soil vapor assessment activities
- Evaluate environmental data and develop remediation recommendations
- Prepare and review technical reports, corrective action plans, and regulatory submissions
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and client expectations
- Coordinate field activities, subcontractors, and technical staff
- Support projects involving petroleum releases, underground storage tanks (USTs), and brownfield redevelopment
- Work directly with regulatory agencies and project stakeholders to advance projects toward closure
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or a related field
- 5-10 years of environmental consulting experience
- Experience with site investigations, remediation, and environmental project management
- Strong technical writing and report preparation skills
- Experience preparing investigation reports, remediation plans, and regulatory deliverables
- Familiarity with petroleum release sites, UST programs, and brownfield projects
- LPG, CHMM, or ability to obtain licensure/certification preferred
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
