Senior Civil Engineer - Water/Wastewater
An established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to support the design and delivery of municipal water infrastructure projects across Louisiana and the wider Gulf Coast region.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys combining technical design, project leadership, client interaction, and staff development. The successful candidate will work on a varied portfolio of public infrastructure assignments involving water, wastewater, drainage, and stormwater systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead civil engineering design for municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater projects.
- Prepare and review designs for water distribution networks, sanitary sewer systems, pump stations, storage facilities, drainage systems, grading, and related site infrastructure.
- Complete or oversee hydraulic, hydrologic, and civil design calculations.
- Review drawings, specifications, reports, and technical documents for quality and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams, clients, public agencies, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and overall delivery.
- Participate in site investigations, condition assessments, and technical studies.
- Assist with proposals, scopes of work, fee development, and client presentations.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with municipal and public-sector clients.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
- Contribute to internal technical standards, knowledge sharing, and quality-control processes.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Active Professional Engineer licence, with the ability to obtain Louisiana registration if required.
- Approximately 10 or more years of relevant civil engineering experience.
- Strong background in municipal water, wastewater, stormwater, drainage, or public infrastructure design.
- Experience delivering projects involving treatment systems, pump stations, pipelines, collection systems, storage facilities, or integrated water infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local engineering standards.
- Strong technical writing, communication, and client-facing skills.
- Experience reviewing and approving engineering designs and deliverables.
- Ability to coordinate projects and provide direction to less-experienced staff.
- Proficiency with relevant civil design and drafting software.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to undertake occasional project-related travel.
