A well established national engineering consulting firm is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineering Manager to lead the delivery of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area and surrounding Midwest region.
This leadership position offers the opportunity to manage complex infrastructure programmes, mentor technical staff, strengthen client relationships, and play a significant role in the continued growth of a well-established water practice.
Position Overview
The Water/Wastewater Engineering Manager will oversee planning, design, and execution of water and wastewater projects while providing technical leadership and strategic direction to both clients and internal project teams.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, project management experience, and a proven ability to develop long-term municipal client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from planning through construction
- Manage multidisciplinary project teams, budgets, schedules, and client expectations
- Serve as a trusted advisor to municipal utilities, water districts, and public-sector agencies
- Provide technical oversight for:
- Water treatment facilities
- Wastewater treatment facilities
- Pump stations
- Water distribution systems
- Wastewater collection systems
- Storage facilities
- Utility master planning studies
- Review engineering reports, design calculations, plans, specifications, and cost estimates
- Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the St. Louis region
- Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and interviews
- Mentor, develop, and supervise engineers and technical staff
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) licence
- 8+ years of water/wastewater engineering experience
- Experience managing municipal infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes
- Experience leading client-facing projects and project teams
- Excellent communication and leadership skills

- Experience managing teams and department resources
- Existing relationships with municipal clients throughout Missouri and Illinois
- Experience supporting business development and client growth
- Knowledge of Missouri DNR and Illinois EPA regulations
- Previous experience overseeing multiple concurrent projects
