Senior Estimator II - Solar PV & BESS

Location: Remote, United States

A renewable energy contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to support the development of utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects across the U.S.

This position will work closely with preconstruction, engineering, procurement, and project management teams to develop accurate EPC cost estimates from early-stage proposals through final bid submissions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare complete cost estimates for utility-scale solar and BESS projects
  • Review RFPs, drawings, specifications, and project documentation
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing analysis
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
  • Develop and compare EPC project budgets and scopes of work
  • Support bid reviews and proposal development
  • Maintain relationships with key vendors and subcontractors
  • Assist with training and mentoring junior estimators
  • Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to ensure estimate accuracy

Requirements

  • 7+ years of estimating experience within utility-scale solar, energy storage, or EPC construction
  • Strong understanding of solar PV and BESS construction methods and costs
  • Experience preparing detailed EPC estimates
  • Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid or similar platforms
  • Experience using Bluebeam or comparable takeoff software
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, civil construction, grading, trenching, and site development
  • Ability to analyze drawings, specifications, and technical project documentation
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Experience managing subcontractor pricing and vendor relationships
  • Familiarity with substations, transmission infrastructure, and power delivery projects
  • Prior mentoring or leadership experience within an estimating team
