Environmental Project Manager

Location: Southeast Michigan
Experience: 5+ Years

A multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consulting firm is seeking an Environmental Project Manager to lead environmental investigation, remediation, and redevelopment projects throughout Michigan and the Midwest.

This position offers the opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of environmental projects while working with public agencies, industrial clients, developers, and private-sector organizations. The ideal candidate will combine technical remediation expertise with strong project management and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage environmental projects from planning through regulatory closure

  • Lead site investigations involving soil, groundwater, sediment, and vapor impacts

  • Oversee remedial investigations, feasibility studies, remediation design, and corrective action programs

  • Develop conceptual site models and remediation strategies for complex environmental sites

  • Manage project budgets, schedules, staffing, and client deliverables

  • Coordinate field activities, subcontractors, laboratories, and technical teams

  • Review technical reports and ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations and industry standards

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, regulators, and project stakeholders

  • Mentor junior staff and provide technical direction to project teams

  • Support business development initiatives and maintain strong client relationships

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline

  • 5+ years of environmental consulting and project management experience

  • Experience managing site investigation, remediation, and environmental compliance projects

  • Strong background in soil, groundwater, surface water, and vapor intrusion investigations

  • Experience developing conceptual site models, feasibility studies, and remediation strategies

  • Knowledge of remedial design, remediation system implementation, and operations & maintenance

  • Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills

  • Current 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification

  • Ability to conduct field work and travel as required for project support

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Michigan remediation programs and regulatory closure processes

  • Familiarity with Brownfield redevelopment projects and redevelopment incentives

  • Experience with environmental due diligence and Baseline Environmental Assessments

  • Knowledge of PFAS investigation and remediation

  • Experience working with municipal, state, or federal agencies

  • OSHA Construction Safety training
