Senior Water Resources Engineer / Project Manager
Our client is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join a growing civil and transportation engineering team. This role is ideal for an engineer with experience in hydrology and hydraulics who enjoys working on a diverse mix of transportation, drainage, stormwater, and flood control projects. You will collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to deliver drainage solutions for highways, bridges, airports, municipal infrastructure, and riverine flood mitigation projects.
This position offers the opportunity to work on meaningful infrastructure projects while developing expertise in stormwater management, hydraulic modelling, and transportation drainage design.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, analysis, and design of drainage and stormwater infrastructure for transportation and civil engineering projects.
- Prepare technical studies, engineering reports, calculations, construction documents, drawings, and permit support packages.
- Develop hydrologic and hydraulic models for stormwater and floodplain analyses.
- Coordinate with design technicians and engineering staff to ensure accurate and timely project delivery.
- Assist with environmental permitting and regulatory documentation.
- Conduct occasional site visits to evaluate existing conditions, collect field data, and support project development.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams on roadway, bridge, airport, and flood control projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- 5-15 years of experience in water resources engineering, drainage design, or H&H modelling.
- Experience using HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, or similar hydrologic and hydraulic modelling software.
- Strong understanding of stormwater management, hydrology, hydraulics, and floodplain analysis.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative project environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure.
- Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, Hydraflow, PondPack, or related design and modelling software.
- Familiarity with NJDEP, NYSDEC, PennDOT, or other transportation and environmental regulatory requirements.
- Experience supporting transportation drainage, roadway design, or flood mitigation projects.
