Water Resources Engineer
Our client is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join their growing Philadelphia-area team. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys tackling complex stormwater, floodplain, watershed, and dam safety challenges while working alongside a highly collaborative group of water resources professionals.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, stormwater management designs, flood studies, and permitting support for a wide variety of municipal, transportation, land development, and infrastructure projects throughout Pennsylvania and the surrounding region.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for stormwater, watershed, and flood mitigation projects.
- Develop stormwater management strategies and drainage designs for public and private sector clients.
- Prepare technical reports, engineering studies, calculations, and permit submissions.
- Perform floodplain evaluations and hydraulic modelling using HEC-RAS (1D and 2D) and other industry-standard software.
- Support environmental permitting efforts and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Conduct dam safety evaluations, breach analyses, and rehabilitation studies.
- Utilize GIS tools and modelling software to support project planning and design.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and regulatory agencies.
- Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance on water resources projects.
- Support client relationships and contribute to project development opportunities.
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of consulting experience focused on water resources engineering.
- PE license in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain Pennsylvania licensure within one year.
- Strong experience with:
- HEC-HMS
- HEC-RAS (1D and 2D)
- HydroCAD
- StormCAD
- WMS
- Strong understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater management, and floodplain analysis.
- Excellent written communication and technical report-writing skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within project teams.
Preferred Experience
- Stormwater permitting and compliance experience.
- Dam safety engineering and breach analysis projects.
- AutoCAD, MicroStation, and ArcGIS proficiency.
- Experience supporting transportation, municipal, environmental, or civil infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with Pennsylvania regulatory agencies and permitting requirements.
- Experience leading technical tasks and coordinating project delivery.
