Senior Water Resources Engineer

Our client is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join their established Water Resources practice in Mount Laurel, NJ. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to take on a technical leadership role focused on stormwater management, floodplain analysis, hydraulic modeling, dam safety, and regulatory permitting throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The successful candidate will work on a diverse portfolio of water resources projects, providing technical expertise on hydrologic and hydraulic analyses while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams. This role offers the chance to contribute to complex watershed, stormwater, and dam-related projects while helping mentor junior staff and support project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for a variety of water resources projects.
  • Develop stormwater management designs and drainage solutions for public and private sector clients.
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering studies, construction documents, and permit applications.
  • Conduct floodplain and flood hazard analyses using HEC-RAS (1D and 2D) and other industry-standard software.
  • Support NJDEP Flood Hazard Area permitting and stormwater compliance efforts.
  • Perform dam safety evaluations, breach analyses, and rehabilitation studies.
  • Utilize GIS and modeling tools to support watershed planning and infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and regulatory agencies throughout project development and delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
  • Participate in client meetings and support business development opportunities as needed.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of consulting engineering experience focused on water resources.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, or ability to obtain licensure within one year.
  • Strong experience withhydrologic and hydraulicmodeling software, including:
    • HEC-HMS
    • HEC-RAS (1D and 2D)
    • HydroCAD
    • StormCAD
    • WMS
  • Experience with floodplain management, stormwater design, and watershed analysis.
  • Strong technical writing and report preparation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Preferred Experience

  • NJDEP Flood Hazard Area permitting.
  • NJDEP Stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs).
  • Dam safety engineering and breach analyses.
  • AutoCAD, MicroStation, and ArcGIS.
  • Experience working on municipal, transportation, environmental, or infrastructure projects throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
