Structural Technician

STRUCTURAL TECHNICIAN - MILWAUKEE, WI

A well-established structural engineering consultancy is looking to add an experienced Structural Technician to its Milwaukee team. The firm delivers a variety of building projects and is known for its practical approach to structural design, collaborative working environment, and commitment to producing high-quality construction documents.

This position would suit someone who enjoys structural drafting and building modeling, working closely with engineers, and developing a strong understanding of how structural systems and building components come together.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce accurate structural drawings, details, and building models using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Apply established drafting, modeling, and production standards across project assignments.
• Work closely with structural engineers and designers to translate engineering concepts and markups into coordinated construction documents.
• Review architectural and multidisciplinary drawings to identify information affecting the structural scope.
• Assist with resolving coordination issues between structural plans, details, and other building components.
• Support projects involving structural steel, concrete, masonry, wood framing, cold-formed metal framing, and foundation systems.
• Participate in field surveys and document existing building conditions when required.
• Assist with shop drawing reviews under the direction of the project engineer.
• Maintain organized and accurate drawing files, models, details, and project documentation.
• Support multiple projects while meeting agreed production schedules and deadlines.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in structural drafting, BIM modeling, or a Structural Technician position.
• Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit.
• Experience producing structural drawings and models for building projects.
• AutoCAD experience is beneficial.
• Familiarity with common building materials and structural systems, including steel, concrete, masonry, and wood.
• Ability to interpret engineering sketches, markups, architectural drawings, and technical information.
• Strong attention to detail and an understanding of how structural and architectural components relate to one another.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to manage drawing updates across multiple projects.
• Comfortable collaborating with engineers, designers, architects, contractors, and other members of the project team.
• An associate degree in engineering technology, architectural technology, CAD, drafting, or a related discipline is preferred, although relevant professional experience will also be considered.
