About the Opportunity
A growing building enclosure consultancy is looking for a mid-level consultant to join its Minneapolis team. The firm works across new construction and existing buildings, providing enclosure design, commissioning, roofing and waterproofing consulting, façade engineering, field testing, forensic investigations, condition assessments, and construction-phase services.
This position is suited to someone with 4-8 years of relevant experience who wants to strengthen their technical expertise, take greater ownership of projects, and progress toward project management.
Responsibilities
- Support building enclosure projects from initial assessment through design, construction, and closeout.
- Conduct field investigations, condition assessments, performance testing, and construction observations.
- Investigate water intrusion, air leakage, condensation, thermal performance, and material deterioration.
- Review drawings and specifications for constructability and enclosure performance.
- Evaluate roofing, waterproofing, façades, exterior walls, windows, curtain walls, and below-grade systems.
- Prepare technical reports, repair recommendations, drawings, details, and specifications.
- Review shop drawings, submittals, product data, and requests for information.
- Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and manufacturers.
- Manage smaller projects and support senior consultants with budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
- Travel periodically for investigations, testing, and project meetings.
Qualifications
- Degree or technical diploma in engineering, architecture, building science, construction management, or a related field. Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
- 4-8 years of experience in building enclosure consulting, design, testing, restoration, commissioning, or construction.
- Knowledge of building enclosure systems, including roofing, waterproofing, façades, exterior walls, windows, or air barriers.
- Experience with field investigations and technical report preparation.
- Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in both office and field environments.
Experience with enclosure commissioning, forensic investigations, performance testing, repair design, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, or relevant industry certifications would be beneficial.
