An established employee-owned engineering, surveying, and consulting firm is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to support a growing portfolio of transportation, municipal, land development, and infrastructure projects throughout Indiana. This position offers a mix of field leadership, advanced surveying technology, and opportunities for career advancement within a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise field survey crews on boundary, topographic, ALTA, construction staking, utility, and transportation projects.
- Operate and maintain GPS, robotic total stations, data collectors, drones, and other survey equipment.
- Coordinate daily field activities, schedules, and project deliverables with project managers and survey staff.
- Ensure accurate collection, documentation, and transfer of field data.
- Train and mentor junior survey technicians and crew members.
- Communicate with clients, contractors, property owners, and public agencies in the field.
- Maintain compliance with company safety standards and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of survey field experience, with experience leading crews preferred.
- Strong understanding of boundary, topographic, and construction staking surveys.
- Experience using GPS and robotic survey equipment.
- Ability to read engineering plans, plats, and construction documents.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- SIT certification or interest in pursuing professional surveying licensure.
- Experience supporting transportation, municipal, or public infrastructure projects.
