Senior Survey Technician | Construction Survey & Data Processing

A growing engineering and surveying firm is seeking a Senior Survey Technician to serve as the critical link between field operations and final deliverables. This role focuses heavily on construction surveying, including stakeout computations, survey data preparation, field support, and data reduction for transportation, utility, and land development projects. The position also offers a path into survey operations coordination and crew scheduling as the organization continues to expand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare stakeout point files, coordinate geometry, and field data packages using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Perform survey computations including traverses, control networks, alignments, profiles, and layout geometry.
  • Develop cut sheets and field sketches for construction survey crews.
  • Reduce field data into topographic surveys, as-builts, quantity surveys, and earthwork volume calculations.
  • Interpret construction plans, profiles, cross-sections, and specifications.
  • Support boundary and mapping projects through survey computations, deed research, and plat review.
  • Conduct QA/QC reviews of survey deliverables prior to release.
  • Provide technical support to field crews regarding survey control and layout questions.
  • Assist with survey operations coordination and scheduling as the team grows.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in land surveying, construction surveying, land development, or related disciplines.
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and survey data reduction workflows.
  • Ability to independently perform complex survey computations.
  • Experience interpreting construction plans and specifications.
  • Knowledge of state and local survey standards and practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to support field personnel remotely.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • CST, LSIT, or progress toward professional licensure.
  • Experience with Carlson Survey software.
  • Prior field surveying experience.
  • Construction survey experience on transportation, utility, or site development projects.
  • Scheduling, dispatching, or survey operations coordination experience.
