Survey Manager (CA PLS)

Lead. Mentor. Own your projects from start to finish.

We're looking for a licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) ready to step into a role with real autonomy where you'll run projects, build lasting client relationships, and shape the future of a growing Survey Division.

This isn't a seat-filler position. You'll be the driving force behind your projects and a go-to leader for the team around you.

What you'll do

  • Own your projects end-to-end: from initiation through delivery, on time, on budget, and to a standard you're proud of.
  • Be the face of the client relationship: the primary point of contact who keeps clients coming back and turns single projects into long-term partnerships.
  • Lead and mentor a team: supervise survey staff, share your expertise, and help the next generation of surveyors grow.
  • Protect the bottom line: manage project profitability, review contracts, and flag risk before it becomes a problem.
  • Coordinate the big stuff: partner with other service lines on large, multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Help win the work: contribute to proposals and interviews as a technical resource, and learn the ins and outs of project pursuits alongside our Business Development team.
  • Raise the bar: help shape Division standards and best practices, and stay ahead of the trends, tech, and innovations moving our industry forward.

What you'll bring

  • PLS license in California (or a PLS in another state with the ability to obtain licensure here within a year).
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible survey experience, including 2+ years as a Project Surveyor (or equivalent).
  • Advanced command of survey processing software, calculations, principles, deliverables, regulations, and boundary resolution.
  • Strong footing in project management, QA/QC, communication, and client relationship management.
  • A knack for juggling multiple projects and competing priorities without dropping the ball.
  • Sound judgment, a safety-first mindset, and the people skills to connect with a wide range of personalities.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel to offices with assigned staff.

Why this role?

  • Autonomy and ownership: you'll actually run your projects, not just support them.
  • Leadership track: mentor a team, shape Division standards, and grow into project pursuits and business development.
  • Visible impact: help build the company's reputation as the preferred choice for survey services.
