About the Opportunity
A growing Texas-based engineering and surveying firm is seeking a Surveyor in Training (SIT) to join its Houston team. This is an excellent opportunity for an emerging surveying professional looking to work alongside experienced RPLSs, gain exposure to a variety of boundary and topographic projects, and continue progressing toward professional licensure.

Responsibilities
- Assist with boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction, route, and right-of-way surveys.
- Perform survey calculations, deed research, and boundary analysis.
- Prepare survey plats, exhibits, legal descriptions, and mapping deliverables.
- Process and analyze field data collected through GPS, total stations, scanners, and drone technology.
- Utilize CAD software to develop survey drawings and project deliverables.
- Coordinate with project managers, survey crews, engineers, and clients.
- Support quality control reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Assist with permitting, easement exhibits, and right-of-way documentation as needed.
- Maintain project schedules and communicate progress to project stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Surveyor In Training (SIT) certification preferred or actively working toward obtaining SIT status.
- Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- 1-5 years of surveying experience.
- Working knowledge of boundary, topographic, and construction surveying principles.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson, MicroStation, or related software preferred.
- Familiarity with GPS, RTK, and conventional survey equipment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting TxDOT, municipal, utility, or land development projects.
- Exposure to ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys.
- Understanding of Texas surveying regulations and standards.
- Interest in pursuing RPLS licensure in Texas.
