Transmission Line Engineering Supervisor

Overview:
A leading engineering and infrastructure firm is seeking a Transmission Line Engineering Manager to lead and grow its transmission design team. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on design responsibilities, offering the opportunity to shape team processes, mentor engineers, and deliver high-quality transmission line projects. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in transmission design, strong project execution skills, and a passion for team development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Transmission Line Design Team, including hiring, mentoring, and performance development.
  • Oversee the production of complete transmission line project designs, with a strong emphasis on technical execution.
  • Support business development efforts by preparing proposals and cultivating relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Review and enhance internal processes and procedures to ensure design quality and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with utility clients on sub-transmission upgrades and fiber optic integration.
  • Produce overhead transmission line designs using PLS-CADD and related tools.
  • Conduct field surveys (up to 15% travel), evaluate structure integrity, ensure compliance with NESC and client clearance requirements, and support construction and record documentation.
  • Serve as a technical expert and mentor to junior engineers, ensuring knowledge transfer and team growth.
  • Participate in internal and external engineering meetings and maintain regular client communication.
  • Perform additional duties as needed, including temporary support for other roles.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 5+ years of experience in overhead and underground transmission line design, including PLS-CADD.
  • Strong technical foundation in transmission design and full project lifecycle understanding.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general office software.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for field work and client meetings.
