Water/Wastewater Project Manager - Delaware Wilmington
A nationally recognized, employee-owned multidisciplinary consulting firm is seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Project Manager to support and lead the delivery of municipal water infrastructure projects. The organization provides engineering, environmental, planning, technology, and related consulting services to public and private sector clients across the United States.
This position offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative water/wastewater practice focused on the planning, design, and delivery of infrastructure projects involving treatment facilities, pumping systems, collection systems, conveyance infrastructure, and distribution networks. The successful candidate will play a key role in project execution, client management, team leadership, and business development efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage projects through all phases of delivery while maintaining scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
- Develop project plans, schedules, quality management approaches, and risk management strategies.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external consultants.
- Monitor project performance and proactively identify and address risks, changes, and additional service opportunities.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, stakeholders, project teams, and leadership.
- Prepare project status reports, presentations, and invoicing documentation.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Lead project meetings and presentations.
- Support proposal preparation, interview presentations, and pursuit activities.
- Provide technical oversight and coordination to project teams.
- Mentor and develop staff through coaching, feedback, and performance management.
- Contribute to a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited program.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Approximately 10+ years of relevant experience in water and/or wastewater engineering.
- Experience delivering infrastructure projects from design through construction support.
- Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency with standard business software applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP or equivalent).
- Experience working with municipal, county, regional, or state-level clients.
- Experience with multiple project delivery methods.
- Demonstrated success managing multidisciplinary project teams.
- Previous client-facing and business development experience.
Work Environment
- Primarily office-based with occasional site visits and field work.
- Limited physical requirements, including occasional walking, standing, and light lifting.
- Exposure to outdoor conditions may occur during project site visits.
