The client is a global engineering firm in Singapore. Their mission is to develop innovative solutions for sustainable waste management, converting waste into renewable energy and valuable resources. As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability, we are seeking a talented and experienced Engineering Design Manager to join our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Lead the design and engineering activities for waste to energy and food waste treatment projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Team Leadership: Manage a team of engineers and designers, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
- Design Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative and sustainable design concepts for waste management facilities, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices.
- Technical Expertise: Apply your in-depth knowledge of waste management technologies, including waste-to-energy systems, and other emerging technologies, to optimize design solutions.
- Vendor Management: Identify and evaluate potential equipment suppliers and contractors, negotiate contracts, and ensure the timely delivery of equipment and services.
- Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce design and engineering standards, perform quality checks, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments, identifying potential project risks and implementing mitigation measures to ensure project success.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including operations, procurement, and regulatory compliance teams, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and regulations related to waste management and energy conversion, and integrate them into project designs and processes.
- Health and Safety: Uphold the highest standards of health and safety in all project activities, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably in Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering). A master's degree is a plus.
- Possess a certification by Professional Engineering Board (PEB) of Singapore or be a Professional Engineer (PE) registered in the country of practice.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in large scale industrial/utilities project delivery (e.g. waste, water, oil & gas, power) or relevant experience in delviering large solid waste management projects (e.g. WTE, sludge incineration, materials recovery and food waste treatment).
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex engineering projects from conception to completion, preferably in the waste management sector.
- Strong knowledge of waste management technologies, such as waste-to-energy systems, anaerobic digestion, composting, and waste treatment processes.
- Proficient in using relevant design software and tools, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of engineers and designers.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Familiarity with local regulations and permits related to waste management and environmental protection in Singapore.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
