Role and Responsibilities:
As a Heavy Highway Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately assessing costs for heavy highway construction projects, ensuring the preparation of competitive bids and proposals. Your main duties will include:
- Estimating: Prepare accurate cost estimates by analyzing project plans, specifications, and related documents. Identify all necessary materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs required for successful project completion.
- Bid Preparation: Collaborate with the bid team to develop comprehensive and competitive bids and proposals for heavy highway projects. Present all relevant data and analyses to support bid decisions.
- Cost Analysis: Conduct in-depth cost analysis, considering historical data, industry trends, and material costs to develop reliable and competitive estimates.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and opportunities within projects, ensuring that all aspects are accounted for in the estimates.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the project management team, engineering team, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and accurate estimation of project requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with industry advancements, software tools, and methodologies to enhance estimating accuracy and efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Estimator in heavy highway construction projects, specifically FDOT projects
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and processes.
- Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., HCSS, Bluebeam, B2W, Agtek) and MS Office applications.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret complex project plans, blueprints, and technical documents.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
