JOB DESCRIPTION
* Work as a lead designer on roadway projects
* Perform civil design calculations
* Establish line/grade
* Conduct drainage analysis
* Design sketches, comparison and similar technical work as required by the assignment
* Lead roadway design staff (PE's, EI's, and Techs) on INDOT and Local Agency projects
* Manage multiple roadway and street projects simultaneously
* Prepare cost estimates and manage overall project budgets
* Assist with plan development of locally and federally funded city, state and county projects
* Interact effectively with others including consulting firms partnering with HWC, INDOT staff, local government agency staff, and HWC staff MINIMUM
REQUIREMENTS
* Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
* 10 years' roadway design and roadway Project Management experience
* Professional Engineering License in Indiana or the ability to obtain licensure in the state of Indiana
* Design skills including rural roadway, urban street, and interstate geometric design, HMA and concrete pavement design, intersection design, roundabout design, interchange design, sign and pavement marking design, cost estimating, special provisions, specifications, and value engineering
* Knowledge of NEPA requirements for federally funded projects
* Proven working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation, Road Design and Microsoft Office software
* Ability to think critically, manage time, and problem solve
* Strong data analysis and organizational skills
* Complete competence working well independently and on a team
* Applicant must possess high ethical standards, have a strong sense of commitment to self-development, teamwork, and a desire to work in a deadline-driven team environment
SKILLS PREFERRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED
* Experience working with the Indiana Department of Transportation
* Traffic signal design and lighting design
