Position Overview: As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and analysis of structural systems for various building projects. Working closely with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines, you will be responsible for ensuring that our structures are safe, efficient, and meet all relevant codes and standards. This position offers the opportunity to lead projects, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the growth and development of our firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the structural design process for building projects from concept through construction, including performing calculations, preparing drawings and specifications, and reviewing designs for compliance with codes and standards.
- Conduct structural analysis using software tools such as ETABS, SAP2000, or similar, to assess the behavior and performance of building systems under various loading conditions.
- Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate structural requirements into overall building designs and resolve interdisciplinary conflicts.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff, helping to develop their skills and capabilities in structural engineering.
- Participate in project meetings, client presentations, and construction site visits to support the successful execution of projects and address any technical issues that arise during the design and construction phases.
- Stay current with industry trends, codes, and standards related to structural engineering, and apply this knowledge to improve the quality and efficiency of our designs.
- Contribute to business development efforts by preparing proposals, attending client meetings, and identifying opportunities for new projects and partnerships.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on building design and analysis.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as ETABS, SAP2000, RAM Structural System, or similar.
- Strong understanding of building codes and standards, including but not limited to IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, and NBCC.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven track record of successfully leading structural engineering projects, managing project budgets and schedules, and delivering high-quality work that meets or exceeds client expectations.
