Company Overview: Our client is a leading civil engineering firm dedicated to providing high-quality services to their clients. They are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Survey Manager to join their team and lead their surveying operations.
Position Overview: As the Survey Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of land surveying projects from inception to completion. You will manage a team of surveyors, ensuring that projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Additionally, you will collaborate with other departments within the company to coordinate surveying activities and contribute to the overall success of projects.
Responsibilities:
Project Management: Manage land surveying projects from start to finish, including project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of surveyors, providing guidance, support, and training as needed to ensure optimal performance and professional development.
Surveying Operations: Oversee field surveying activities, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, and as-built surveys, to ensure accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
Quality Control: Implement quality control measures to ensure that surveying data and deliverables meet established standards of accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and standards governing land surveying practices, including safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding surveying projects, providing updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to coordinate surveying activities with other phases of land development projects and contribute to interdisciplinary project teams.
Technology Integration: Stay abreast of advancements in surveying technology and tools, and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy through the adoption of new technologies.
Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, including survey records, reports, drawings, and other relevant documentation, to facilitate project tracking, analysis, and reporting.
Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices to optimize surveying operations, increase productivity, and enhance the quality of deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in surveying, civil engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Arizona required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in land surveying, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Proficiency in surveying software and equipment, including GPS, total stations, and CAD software.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, and standards governing land surveying practices.
