Transmission Planning Engineer - Hybrid
My client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Transmission Planning Engineer to join their dynamic team in either the Houston or San Antonio area. As a Transmission Planning Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the planning and optimization of their transmission network to ensure reliable and efficient power delivery. The ideal candidate will preferably possess a Professional Engineer (PE) license and a strong background in power systems and transmission planning.
Responsibilities:
- Transmission Network Planning: Lead the planning and design efforts for the transmission network, considering factors such as load growth, system reliability, and regulatory requirements.
- Power Flow Analysis: Conduct power flow studies to analyze and optimize the performance of the transmission system under various operating conditions.
- Stability Analysis: Perform transient and voltage stability studies to ensure the secure operation of the transmission network.
- Load Forecasting: Collaborate with other teams to develop load forecasts and assess the impact on the transmission system.
- Equipment Sizing and Specification: Determine the appropriate sizing and specifications for transmission equipment such as transformers, reactors, and circuit breakers.
- Compliance with Standards: Ensure that all transmission planning activities comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Modeling and Simulation: Develop and maintain accurate system models using state-of-the-art simulation tools.
- Coordination with Stakeholders: Collaborate with internal teams, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders to address planning and operational challenges.
- Project Management: Manage transmission planning projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and propose mitigation strategies to enhance the resilience and reliability of the transmission system.
Requirements:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience in transmission planning and power system analysis.
- Proficiency in power system simulation tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Project management experience is a plus.
