About the Opportunity
A leading national Building Automation Systems integrator is seeking an experienced BAS Design Engineer to join its growing engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of commercial, healthcare, higher education, industrial, mission-critical, and large-scale institutional projects across the United States.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC controls design, experience developing BAS submittals and control drawings, and a deep understanding of Niagara N4, Distech, and Honeywell systems.
Responsibilities
- Design Building Automation and HVAC Controls systems for new construction and retrofit projects.
- Develop control drawings, wiring diagrams, points lists, network architecture drawings, panel layouts, and system schematics.
- Create detailed project submittals and engineering documentation.
- Interpret contract documents, mechanical plans, and specifications to develop control strategies.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Programmers, Technicians, and Customers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support commissioning and startup activities by providing engineering assistance when required.
- Review and troubleshoot BAS designs to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Participate in value engineering efforts to optimize system performance and project profitability.
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications.
- Provide technical expertise on Niagara, Distech, and Honeywell platforms.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Building Automation Systems (BAS) or HVAC Controls design experience.
- Niagara N4 Certification required.
- Hands-on experience designing systems utilizing Distech Controls and Honeywell products.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, sequences of operation, and control strategies.
- Experience producing:
- Control drawings
- Submittal packages
- Network architecture drawings
- Points schedules
- Panel layouts
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Visio, or similar design software.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and architectural drawings.
- Strong communication and project coordination skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Systems, Electrical Systems, or a related field.
- Experience supporting data center, healthcare, pharmaceutical, higher education, or mission-critical facilities.
- Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, and IP network architectures.
- Experience with energy management and system optimization initiatives.
