My client is seeking an experienced Environmental Department Manager to lead and expand its Brownfield Redevelopment practice. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a professional who enjoys a combination of technical project oversight, team leadership, client engagement, and strategic growth.

The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of an established service line, strengthen industry partnerships, and help shape the future direction of the practice. The successful candidate will become a key resource for brownfield redevelopment initiatives while working closely with company leadership to drive continued growth.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the Brownfield Redevelopment practice, working with leadership to drive strategic growth and future planning

  • Develop and maintain relationships with developers, municipalities, regulatory agencies, and industry stakeholders to expand business opportunities

  • Oversee brownfield redevelopment projects, including environmental investigation, remediation, redevelopment planning, and incentive utilization

  • Provide guidance on grants, tax incentives, and funding programs that support redevelopment efforts

  • Manage, mentor, and develop environmental staff while ensuring projects are properly staffed and executed

  • Monitor project performance, budgets, profitability, and overall department operations

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful project outcomes

  • Review technical deliverables and ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations and quality standards

  • Support proposal development, client management, and business development efforts

  • Serve as the department's primary brownfield resource and trusted advisor for clients and internal teams


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Planning, or a related field

  • Approximately 10+ years of experience supporting brownfield redevelopment, environmental restoration, or related consulting projects

  • Minimum 5 years of project leadership or management experience

  • Strong understanding of redevelopment programs, environmental investigations, and property revitalization initiatives

  • Experience working with public-sector and private-sector stakeholders

  • Knowledge of grant programs, redevelopment funding mechanisms, and incentive opportunities

  • Demonstrated success managing client relationships and developing new business opportunities

  • Ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and drive projects to completion

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills

  • Professional registration is welcomed but not required
