Environmental Engineer / Project Engineer

My client is seeking an Environmental Engineer / Project Engineer to join a growing environmental team in Southeast Michigan. This newly created position offers an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional looking to gain hands-on project experience while working directly alongside a senior leader with a long-term succession plan in place. The role is heavily field-oriented, providing exposure to environmental due diligence, site investigation, remediation projects, and environmental engineering activities across a variety of project types.

Responsibilities

• Support environmental due diligence, site investigation, and remediation projects from planning through completion

• Perform and manage Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and related environmental investigations

• Conduct field activities including soil, groundwater, and environmental sampling

• Assist with data analysis, technical reporting, and regulatory documentation

• Work alongside senior project leadership to support remediation planning and implementation

• Coordinate with clients, contractors, regulators, and internal project teams

• Contribute to remediation system evaluations and design efforts when applicable

• Support projects involving residential, multifamily, municipal, and parks-related developments

• Travel throughout Southeast Michigan for project-related fieldwork and site visits

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of environmental consulting experience

• Experience conducting and managing Environmental Site Assessments (ESA)

• Background in environmental due diligence, site investigation, and remediation projects

• Working knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements

• Experience with remediation system design is a plus, but not required

• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a field-focused environment
