Our client is a specialized environmental consulting and engineering firm that supports major infrastructure, transportation, industrial, construction, and public-sector projects throughout Southern California and across the United States. The firm is known for tackling complex environmental challenges related to soil, air, water, hazardous materials, waste management, regulatory compliance, and environmental monitoring.

Due to continued growth, the company is seeking an Environmental Field Technician to support a wide variety of active projects throughout the Southern California region. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being outdoors, working hands-on in the field, and gaining exposure to diverse environmental projects rather than spending time behind a desk.

This position is almost entirely field-based, with travel throughout the Southern California market. A company vehicle will be provided.

Position Overview

The Environmental Field Technician will support environmental compliance, monitoring, investigation, and construction-related projects throughout Southern California. This individual will perform field sampling, monitoring, documentation, site inspections, and data collection activities while working closely with project managers, environmental scientists, and engineers.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, safety-conscious, comfortable working outdoors, and capable of managing multiple project sites and field assignments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections and environmental monitoring activities at active project sites.
  • Perform soil, groundwater, stormwater, air quality, and related environmental sampling activities.
  • Support environmental compliance monitoring during construction and remediation projects.
  • Collect, document, and maintain accurate field data, notes, logs, and chain-of-custody documentation.
  • Assist with soil management, hazardous waste, and environmental compliance programs.
  • Monitor site activities and document compliance with permit requirements and project specifications.
  • Coordinate laboratory sample shipments and maintain sample tracking records.
  • Photograph site conditions and prepare daily field reports.
  • Communicate field observations to project managers and technical staff.
  • Maintain field equipment and ensure adherence to health and safety protocols.
  • Travel regularly throughout Southern California to support project assignments.

Desired Qualifications

  • 2+ years of environmental field experience.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Natural Resources, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Experience with environmental sampling, construction monitoring, remediation projects, or regulatory compliance activities.
  • Working knowledge of environmental health and safety procedures.
  • Experience collecting and documenting environmental field data.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in dynamic field environments.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
  • Ability to lift equipment and materials associated with field operations.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
