A family-owned mechanical contractor in the Greater Boston area is hiring an experienced Estimator as it continues to grow across commercial plumbing and HVAC projects. You'll join a respected contractor with a strong project pipeline, a collaborative culture and clear opportunities for career progression.
Responsibilities
Prepare accurate cost estimates and bid proposals for plumbing and HVAC projects
Review drawings, specifications and project documents
Complete quantity take-offs and labour and material pricing
Request and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and vendors
Identify value engineering opportunities and ways to cut costs
Work with project managers, operations and leadership during preconstruction
Attend site visits, walkthroughs and pre-bid meetings as needed
Keep bid files and estimating databases organised and up to date
Requirements
3+ years of estimating experience in plumbing, HVAC, mechanical contracting or related construction
Able to read construction drawings and specifications
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, installation methods and construction costs
Experience with estimating software (e.g., Trimble Autobid, FastPipe/FastDuct, PlanSwift, EST MEP) and Microsoft Office
Excellent communication and organisational skills
A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field is preferred but not required
