The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Maritime Engineer to join their growing Maritime and Coastal Infrastructure team in Sydney or Brisbane.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering major port, marine, coastal and waterfront infrastructure projects throughout Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the planning, design and delivery of critical infrastructure projects while building trusted relationships with clients across government, transport, defence and private sectors.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with proven project delivery capabilities and a passion for developing both client relationships and junior engineering talent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of maritime infrastructure projects from concept and feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.
  • Prepare and review engineering designs for:
    • Wharves and jetties
    • Quay walls and berthing structures
    • Ports and harbour infrastructure
    • Waterfront developments
    • Coastal protection and seawall projects
    • Marine terminals and maritime transport infrastructure
  • Undertake structural and maritime engineering calculations, technical reviews and quality assurance activities.
  • Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, design documentation and project specifications.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, resources and risk throughout project lifecycles.
  • Conduct site inspections, condition assessments and asset evaluations.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across structural, civil, geotechnical, coastal and environmental disciplines.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships across ports, government agencies, transport authorities and private sector clients.
  • Support business development activities, proposals and tender submissions.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and contribute to the overall growth of the maritime team.

About You

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural or Maritime Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in maritime, coastal or marine infrastructure engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering maritime projects within a consulting engineering environment.
  • Experience working on port, harbour, jetty, wharf, coastal or waterfront infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design standards and project delivery processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Preferred

  • Chartered Engineer (CPEng) status or working towards accreditation.
  • Experience working with Australian port authorities, defence, transport or government clients.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Existing industry networks within the maritime, ports or coastal infrastructure sectors.
