About the Opportunity
We are seeking a senior water resources professional to help expand and lead our water resources practice in the Denver metropolitan area. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to develop client relationships, identify opportunities, and grow a sustainable business line.
The successful candidate will play a key role in both project delivery and strategic growth, helping to build a pipeline of work across municipal, water district, flood control, watershed, and water resources clients throughout Colorado.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage water resources projects from pursuit through delivery.
- Develop and maintain relationships with municipalities, water providers, special districts, and other public agencies.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities within the Colorado water market.
- Serve as a technical leader for hydrology, hydraulics, drainage, floodplain, stormwater, watershed, and water resources projects.
- Mentor and support junior engineering staff.
- Prepare and review technical reports, studies, proposals, and project deliverables.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions for clients.
- Contribute to strategic planning and long-term growth initiatives for the water resources practice.
- Support proposal efforts, presentations, and client development activities.
Desired Background
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 10+ years of progressive water resources engineering experience.
- Experience working with municipal clients, water districts, flood control agencies, or related organizations.
- Strong technical background in one or more of the following:
- Hydrology and hydraulics
- Stormwater management
- Floodplain studies
- Watershed analysis
- Drainage design
- Water resources planning
- River and stream systems
- Demonstrated project management experience, including budgeting, scheduling, and client management.
- Experience with business development, client engagement, and proposal preparation.
- Existing relationships within the Colorado water market strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience serving both public-sector and private-sector clients.
- Established network within the Denver metro area, including municipalities, utilities, water providers, and consulting partners.
- Ability to balance technical project execution with practice development responsibilities.
- Proven track record of leading teams and mentoring engineers.
