My client is an established structural engineering consultancy known for its technical expertise, collaborative culture, and long-standing relationships across retail, commercial, industrial, healthcare, and institutional markets.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Structural Program Lead to oversee one of the firm's most successful and commercially important retail programs. This senior position combines structural engineering leadership, client management, team development, and commercial oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a national portfolio of retail projects from initial scope through construction.
- Serve as the primary contact for key clients, architects, contractors, and internal teams.
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, staffing, profitability, and technical delivery.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities for additional work.
- Lead and mentor structural engineers and designers across multiple experience levels.
- Provide senior technical guidance across steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and light-gauge framing systems.
- Review calculations, drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Maintain consistency and efficiency across prototype, renovation, and site-specific retail projects.
- Support proposals, fee development, workload forecasting, and program growth.
- Ensure projects meet client expectations, internal quality standards, and applicable building codes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- 8+ years of structural engineering experience, ideally including retail, commercial, prototype, or multi-site programs.
- Professional Engineer licence required, with the ability to obtain additional state licences.
- Experience leading major clients, project teams, or portfolios of concurrent projects.
- Strong knowledge of steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and light-gauge framing.
- Demonstrated experience managing project scope, fees, schedules, staffing, and profitability.
- Proficiency with structural analysis software such as RAM, RISA, STAAD, or similar.
- Strong communication, leadership, and client relationship skills.
- Commercial awareness and experience supporting proposals, account growth, or business development.
