The Role:
The Automation Engineer will assist in the design, fabrication, programming, installation, commissioning/testing, & support of primarily Water/Wastewater control systems. These systems typically include process instrumentation, control panels, motor controls, power monitoring, PLCs, OITs/HMIs, SCADA/DCS Systems, industrial networking, IT infrastructure, radio/cellular telemetry, reporting, & data collection.
Responsibilities/Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related from an ABET accredited program.
- 5+ years experience as an Electrical/Controls Engineer performing design, programming, installation and startup tasks.
- Programming experience using programmable logic controllers (PLCs), operator interface terminals (OITs), and SCADA software. Products used primarily include Allen-Bradley SLC, MicroLogix, CompactLogix, ControlLogix, PanelView, Rockwell FactoryTalk View, Ignition, GE iFIX, Wonderware System Platform, InTouch, and other hardware/software.
- Visio experience a plus.
- Knowledge of water/wastewater systems is a plus
- Skills with hand tools, such as screw drivers, drills, hacksaws, hammers, is a plus.
- Must possess skills to troubleshoot issues with components within a control panel.
- Must possess effective oral, written, & digital communication skills.
- Must be able to easily interact with other staff & assist in communications with clients, customers, engineers, & contractors.
- Must be able to identify and solve problems in a timely manner.
- Must be willing to undertake self-development activities
- Must be a self-learner and be able to work independently
