As an Audio Visual (AV) Field Engineer, your primary responsibility is to design, install, configure, and maintain audio and video systems in various settings, such as corporate offices, conference rooms, educational institutions, entertainment venues, and other commercial or public spaces. You will work closely with clients, project managers, and other team members to ensure successful AV system integration and provide technical support for AV equipment and systems.
Responsibilities:
- System Design: Collaborate with clients and project managers to assess AV requirements and design custom AV solutions that meet their needs. This includes selecting appropriate AV equipment, creating system diagrams and documentation, and preparing cost estimates.
- Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and integrate AV equipment, including displays, projectors, microphones, speakers, video conferencing systems, control systems, and other AV components. This may involve mounting equipment, running cabling, programming control systems, and troubleshooting issues during installation. Testing and
- Commissioning: Conduct thorough testing and commissioning of AV systems to ensure proper functionality and performance. This includes conducting quality checks, running diagnostics, adjusting settings, and resolving and issues that may arise during testing.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support for AV systems, including diagnosing and resolving technical issues, troubleshooting audio and video signal flow, and addressing user inquiries or concerns. This may involve onsite support, remote support, or after-hours support as needed.
- Documentation: Create and maintain documentation related to AV systems, including system diagrams, equipment lists, user guides, and standard operating procedures. This includes updating documentation as changes or upgrades are made to AV systems.
- Training and User Support: Provide training and support to end users on how to operate and troubleshoot AV systems. This may involve conducting training sessions,creating user guides, and providing ongoing support to ensure users can effectively utilize AV systems.
- Project Management: Collaborate with project managers to ensure AV projects are completed on time and within budget. This includes coordinating with vendors, managing equipment inventory, tracking project progress, and reporting project status to stakeholders.
- Stay Updated with Technology: Stay current with the latest trends and advancements in AV technology, including audio and video standards, codecs, control systems, networking, and other relevant technologies. This includes participating in industry events, training programs, and self-directed learning to continually enhance your technical skills and knowledge.
- Safety Compliance: Follow safety guidelines, regulations, and best practices to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others. This includes adhering to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, local building codes, and industry safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering, audio engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications, such as Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) or other AV industry certifications.
- Strong technical knowledge of AV systems, including audio and video signal flow, display technologies, video conferencing systems, control systems, and networking.
- Proficient in AV system design software, CAD tools, and control system programming.
- Experience with AV installation, configuration, testing, and commissioning.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, client-driven environment.
- Knowledge of safety guidelines, regulations, and best practices related to AV installations.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to client sites as needed.
