Job Description: Fire Protection Engineer - Sydney.
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Fire Protection Engineer in Sydney. As a Fire Protection Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, analysing, and implementing fire protection systems to ensure the safety and compliance of buildings and facilities. Your primary goal will be to develop effective fire protection strategies and solutions that meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Design and Analysis: Develop fire protection system designs, including fire suppression systems, fire alarms, and smoke control systems, using engineering principles and software tools. Conduct fire hazard assessments and analyse building plans to identify potential risks and develop appropriate fire protection strategies.
- Code Compliance: Stay updated on local and national fire protection codes, regulations, and standards. Ensure that all fire protection system designs and installations comply with the relevant codes and standards.
- System Testing and Inspection: Oversee and conduct tests and inspections on fire protection systems to ensure their proper functioning and compliance with regulations. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues identified during testing and inspections.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of fire protection system designs, calculations, and testing results. Prepare reports and documentation for clients, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct fire risk assessments and develop fire safety plans for buildings and facilities. Recommend and implement measures to mitigate fire risks and improve the overall fire safety of the premises.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Professional certifications in fire protection engineering or related disciplines are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in fire protection engineering, including designing and implementing fire protection systems.
- In-depth knowledge of fire protection codes, regulations, and standards, especially those applicable in Sydney and New South Wales.
- Proficiency in fire protection engineering software and tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess fire risks and develop effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of construction industry practices and processes.
