Purpose:
Be a crucial part of our operations, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our instrumentation systems. Your expertise will drive safety, innovation, and excellence in our Maintenance Department.
Essential Job Functions:
- Safety First: Lead by example in implementing and maintaining safety practices.
- System Expertise: Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC systems, combustion controls, and more to keep our operations running smoothly.
- Precision Calibration: Calibrate vital systems, including transducers, turbine controls, and environmental monitoring equipment.
- Technical Installation: Perform essential installations of cable and conduit.
- High-Pressure Operations: Safely manage equipment operating at high pressures and temperatures.
- Accurate Documentation: Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and updates to prints and drawings.
- Vendor Liaison: Utilize vendor information and maintenance procedures effectively.
- Continuous Learning: Engage in ongoing training and help mentor new technicians.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all test and safety equipment is in top condition.
- Organized Workspaces: Maintain clean and hazard-free work areas.
- Procedure Development: Create and refine maintenance procedures.
- Property Protection: Safeguard company property.
- Versatile Duties: Perform additional related duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Internal Candidates: Completion of a state-approved instrument apprenticeship program or equivalent education and experience.
- External Candidates: Associate degree in Instrumentation or a related field plus three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills:
- Proficiency in the duties of technicians and trainees.
- Knowledge of budget processes, cost center breakdowns, and accounting systems.
- Completion of training in personnel, accounting, safety, and CMMS.
- Computer literacy and troubleshooting skills.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid driver's license.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, lift (up to 45 lbs. and 75 lbs. occasionally), push/pull, crawl, twist, climb, bend, and stretch.
- Operate overhead cranes, hijackers, stack elevators, pickups, end-loaders, and telephones.
- Manipulate test equipment, maintenance tools, ladders, cables, and wires.
- Ability to be respirator certified.
Environmental Demands:
- Work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Exposure to extreme cold, heat, noise, mechanical and electrical hazards, fumes, odors, dust, chemicals, toxic waste, and ionizing radiation.
- Frequently work at heights.
Other Job Characteristics:
- Availability for off-duty emergency call-ins.
- Frequent interaction with contractors, salespeople, and co-workers.
- Limited supervision.
- Team-oriented and independent work with routine and variable tasks.
- Overtime as required.
Residency Requirement:
- Must reside within 50 air miles of the designated station in Alma, WI. Relocation must be completed by the end of the transfer or introductory period. Non-compliance may result in layoff or termination.
