The PR Manager will play a critical role in representing the offshore wind developer to local communities, government authorities, and other stakeholders. The primary focus of this role is to establish and maintain positive relationships with relevant government agencies and local communities, with special attention to the fishing community. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating effective communication, addressing concerns, and ensuring that the offshore wind projects align with local interests and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with relevant government agencies, including local, regional, and national bodies.
- Monitor and stay abreast of changes in government policies, regulations, and permit requirements that may impact offshore wind projects.
- Engage in constructive dialogues with government officials to advocate for the interests of the offshore wind developer and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Act as the main point of contact for local communities, including fishermen and other stakeholders, to address their inquiries, concerns, and feedback.
- Organize and attend community meetings, workshops, and other events to foster open communication and transparency about offshore wind projects.
- Develop strategies to build trust and mutual understanding between the offshore wind developer and the local communities.
- Collaborate closely with the fishing community to understand their needs and concerns regarding the potential impact of offshore wind projects on their livelihoods.
- Facilitate discussions and negotiate agreements with fishermen to address any conflicts and find mutually beneficial solutions.
- Implement measures to minimize disruption to fishing activities during project development and construction phases.
- Proactively identify potential issues and conflicts related to offshore wind projects and work towards timely resolution.
- Collaborate with internal departments, contractors, and external stakeholders to address and resolve any arising challenges.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, Public Relations, Communications, Political Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in stakeholder engagement, community relations, or government affairs, preferably within the renewable energy or offshore wind industry.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven track record of successful engagement with local communities and government authorities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and attend meetings as required.
