opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer focusing in Drainage Design in our Lakeland, Tampa, or Orlando office(s). The successful candidate will prepare drainage designs for a variety of project types, from preliminary concepts to final construction plans. They will be a senior engineer who displays good engineering judgement, takes pride in their work, can oversee the work of junior engineers, takes initiative, and wants the opportunity to work on challenging projects in a fast-paced, multi-discipline, team environment.
Essential Functions:
- Design drainage solutions for roadway projects and flooding issues
- Provide Stormwater Management and Floodplain analysis
- Prepare construction cost estimates
- Collaborate as a part of a transportation team to develop PD&E evaluations and final designs
- Coordinate with clients and sub-consultants
- Develop and mentor junior staff
Required Experience:
- Six (6)+ years' of experience in drainage design and transportation related engineering
- Basic understanding of FDOT Florida Design Manual, FDOT Standard Plans, FDOT Specifications, FDOT Drainage Manuals and AASHTO "green book"
- Experience in 2 or more of the following modeling software packages: ICPR4, SWMM, HEC-RAS, HY-8
- Stormwater management pond and floodplain compensation design
- Storm drain, side drain, ditch, and cross drain design
- Knowledge of developing design documentation
- Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Customer interaction and team collaboration
Required Education:
- Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Florida
- Professional experience supporting FDOT programs
