My client is currently seeking an experienced Senior Cultural Resources Specialist to join their team. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in archaeology and cultural resources management, particularly in California.
Requirements:
- Master's degree (M.A.) or Ph.D. in archaeology or a related field.
- Preferred RPA certification.
- Minimum of 6 years of supervisory or management experience in California Cultural Resources Management (CRM), including prehistoric and historic-aged resources.
- Profound expertise in California archaeology, with a comprehensive understanding of CEQA, Assembly Bill 52, NEPA, and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
- Familiarity with U.S. Forest Service Programmatic Agreements and Bureau of Land Management Manuals.
- Proven experience in drafting technical reports and assessing resources for listing on the California or National Register.
- Skilled in writing CEQA/NEPA documents sections related to Cultural and Tribal Cultural Resources.
- Previous experience in developing scopes of work and budget proposals is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Caltrans standards and requirements pertaining to cultural resources is a plus.
- Experience collaborating with southern California Native American tribal members is desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee cultural resources projects, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
- Conduct archaeological surveys, evaluations, and impact assessments.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports and documentation for regulatory purposes.
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate cultural resources considerations into project planning and execution.
- Engage with stakeholders, including Native American tribal members, agencies, and the public.
- Provide expert guidance and consultation on cultural resources management issues.
- Develop scopes of work and budget proposals for cultural resources projects.
