My client are looking for a Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer for their Richmond office.
The ideal candidate should possess 15 to 20 years of experience in the field of water and wastewater engineering, specifically in water and wastewater system planning, hydraulic modeling, design, and construction management. They should have a proven track record of working on various water and wastewater projects, including facilities, pipelines, water storage tanks, pumping stations, force mains, and the evaluation, design, and rehabilitation of sanitary sewer systems.
In this role, the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work independently on technical tasks with minimal supervision. They should also be capable of leading and coordinating technical activities, assuming the role of a project design lead when required. The candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the preparation of technical proposals, with a focus on developing innovative and effective technical approaches.
Effective communication skills, both oral and written, along with strong presentation abilities, are essential for this position. Additionally, the candidate should possess mentoring and training capabilities to support and develop younger engineering staff within the organisation.
The responsibilities of the Water/Wastewater Engineer will encompass the management, planning, and design oversight of water/wastewater projects. They will be responsible for preparing and monitoring project budgets, ensuring successful project delivery within established time lines and budgetary constraints, while upholding high-quality standards. Accurate and timely client billing for projects will also fall under their purview.
During the construction phase, the candidate will actively participate in various management aspects, including pre-bid conferences, interpretations, post-bid evaluations, and contract preparation. Moreover, they will be involved in pre-project presentations and interviews, representing the company professionally and showcasing their expertise to potential clients.
Throughout the project's life cycle, from procurement and negotiation to execution and closeout, the Water/Wastewater Engineer will be responsible for leading planning efforts and continuously monitoring project status. Their objective will be to ensure successful project execution, meeting all project goals effectively.
Requirements
The ideal candidate for this position must have a B.S. degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering and hold a P.E. (Professional Engineer) license registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia or possess the ability to become registered through comity from another state within 6 months. They should have accumulated 15 to 20 years of progressive experience in water and wastewater system planning, design, and construction management.
Proficiency in using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is required for this role, and experience with NASSCO would be considered a plus.
