Position Overview:

Seeking an experienced Archaeologist to support and help expand a growing Cultural Resources Practice throughout New York and the Northeast. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of cultural resources, environmental compliance, infrastructure, utility, and federal contracting projects while collaborating directly with highly respected industry leaders.

The ideal candidate will have experience conducting archaeological field investigations, cultural resources management studies, and compliance-related projects. This role will involve a combination of fieldwork, technical reporting, project support, and client-facing responsibilities. Candidates who are Secretary of the Interior (SOI) qualified are strongly preferred.

As a growing practice within a multidisciplinary environmental and engineering consulting firm, this position provides an opportunity to help shape the future of the cultural resources group while gaining exposure to a broad range of projects across the Northeast and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct archaeological field investigations, including Phase I surveys, shovel test pit surveys, and site evaluations.
• Support cultural resources management projects for federal, state, municipal, and private sector clients.
• Assist with archaeological compliance efforts associated with Section 106 reviews and related federal and state regulatory requirements.
• Perform field documentation, data collection, artifact analysis, and cultural resource assessments.
• Prepare technical reports, site forms, field summaries, and supporting project documentation.
• Contribute to archaeological investigations associated with linear infrastructure projects, utility corridors, transmission lines, and rights-of-way.
• Coordinate with project managers, environmental scientists, engineers, and regulatory agencies as needed.
• Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and task management.
• Support proposal preparation and business development efforts when appropriate.
• Maintain field equipment, data quality standards, and health and safety requirements.
• Travel to project sites throughout New York and the Northeast region as required.
• Collaborate with senior cultural resources professionals and technical experts to support project delivery and practice growth.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Historic Preservation, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional archaeological experience.
• Experience conducting archaeological field investigations, including shovel test surveys and site assessments.
• Knowledge of cultural resources management practices and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Experience preparing technical reports and archaeological documentation.
• Familiarity with Section 106 compliance and state historic preservation processes.
• Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel for project assignments throughout the Northeast region.
