Position Overview
The Senior Environmental Health & Safety Project Manager will serve as a technical leader and trusted advisor, supporting clients with complex environmental health and safety (EHS) challenges across multiple industries. This role combines project management, regulatory compliance, client consulting, business development, and team mentorship responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive EHS experience, strong project management capabilities, and a consultative approach to helping clients navigate regulatory requirements, improve operational performance, and manage environmental and safety-related risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead environmental health and safety consulting projects from proposal development through successful completion
- Interpret and apply OSHA, EPA, and state regulatory requirements for diverse client operations and facilities
- Conduct EHS compliance audits, assessments, inspections, and program evaluations
- Develop EHS programs, corrective action plans, compliance strategies, and risk management initiatives
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients regarding environmental, health, and safety compliance matters
- Manage project budgets, schedules, scopes of work, staffing, and technical deliverables
- Prepare and review technical reports, compliance documentation, and client recommendations
- Develop cost estimates and implementation strategies to address identified compliance gaps and operational risks
- Deliver client training programs, workshops, and educational sessions on EHS-related topics
- Support mergers and acquisitions (M&A) projects through environmental and EHS due diligence activities
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying new project opportunities
- Contribute to business development efforts through proposal preparation, client meetings, and strategic growth initiatives
- Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance and quality assurance oversight
- Stay current on regulatory developments and emerging industry trends impacting clients
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Geology, Chemistry, Biology, or a related discipline
- 10+ years of experience in environmental health and safety consulting or corporate EHS leadership roles
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing projects, budgets, schedules, client communications, and technical deliverables
- Experience conducting EHS compliance audits, assessments, and corrective action planning
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively engage clients and stakeholders
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
- Ability to travel up to 30% as needed to support client engagements
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or similar credentials
- Experience supporting environmental and EHS due diligence efforts for mergers and acquisitions
- Background advising clients across manufacturing, industrial, commercial, energy, or other regulated sectors
- Experience delivering EHS training programs, workshops, and compliance seminars
- Proven success contributing to business development, client growth, and strategic consulting initiatives
- Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and mentoring junior staff
