Job Title: Architectural Historian

Salary: $60,000 - $100,000

Position Overview:

Seeking an experienced Architectural Historian to join and help expand our growing Cultural Resources Practice throughout New York and the Northeast. This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of cultural resources compliance, transportation, utility, infrastructure, and federal contracting projects while collaborating with senior cultural resources professionals and multidisciplinary project teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional who is interested in helping grow a cultural resources practice while gaining exposure to diverse projects throughout New York, New England, Pennsylvania, and the broader Northeast region.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct historic architectural surveys and cultural resource investigations for a variety of public and private sector projects.
• Evaluate historic buildings, structures, districts, landscapes, and other cultural resources for National Register of Historic Places eligibility.
• Prepare technical reports, historic resource evaluations, effects assessments, and supporting cultural resources documentation.
• Support Section 106 compliance reviews and coordination with State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPOs), federal agencies, and project stakeholders.
• Conduct field documentation, photographic inventories, archival research, and historical analyses.
• Support cultural resource compliance efforts associated with transportation, utility, transmission, renewable energy, and infrastructure projects.
• Assist with project management tasks, including budgeting, scheduling, and client coordination.
• Collaborate with archaeologists, environmental scientists, planners, engineers, and permitting specialists on multidisciplinary projects.
• Assist with proposal preparation and business development efforts when appropriate.
• Travel to project sites throughout New York and the Northeast region as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architectural History, Historic Preservation, History, Historic Architecture, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in architectural history, historic preservation, or cultural resources management.
• Experience conducting architectural surveys and historic resource assessments.
• Knowledge of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and associated cultural resources compliance requirements.
• Experience evaluating resources for National Register of Historic Places eligibility.
• Experience preparing technical reports and cultural resources documentation.
• Strong research, analytical, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
