Mid to Senior Stormwater / Water Resources Design Engineer (Remote)

Position Overview

An established and growing engineering and environmental consulting firm is seeking a Mid to Senior Stormwater or Water Resources Design Engineer to help support and expand its presence across Florida.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced professional looking to combine hands-on technical work with project leadership, client engagement, mentoring, and practice growth. The successful candidate will have the chance to work on a diverse range of stormwater, water resources, and civil infrastructure projects while contributing to strategic initiatives that shape communities and strengthen water resilience.

The role offers exposure to stormwater management, watershed planning, flood mitigation, water quality improvements, green infrastructure, environmental permitting, and civil infrastructure design.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

  • Leading and supporting stormwater, water resources, and civil infrastructure projects for municipal, state, federal, and private clients
  • Managing project scopes, schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables
  • Designing stormwater management systems and civil infrastructure improvements
  • Supporting watershed planning initiatives and development of flood mitigation and water quality enhancement projects
  • Applying and overseeing hydrologic and hydraulic modelling and design tools, including:
    • ICPR
    • EPA-SWMM
    • HEC-RAS
    • TUFLOW
    • AutoCAD Civil 3D
    • ArcGIS
  • Supporting environmental permitting efforts
  • Preparing and reviewing technical reports, plans, specifications, and construction documents
  • Assisting with field investigations and construction-phase services
  • Mentoring and developing junior engineering staff
  • Supporting client development, proposal preparation, and business growth initiatives
  • Helping clients address climate resilience and long-term infrastructure challenges

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field with a water resources focus
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 8+ years of relevant stormwater, water resources, or civil infrastructure experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater design, and infrastructure planning
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline
  • Additional certifications such as:
    • CFM
    • PMP
    • CPESC
    • CPSWQ
    • ENV SP
    • GISP
    • WEDG
  • Experience with stormwater design, civil/site development, environmental permitting, and construction administration
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, ICPR, HEC-RAS, EPA-SWMM, TUFLOW, and ArcGIS
  • Experience leading projects and managing client relationships
  • Interest in mentoring staff and supporting business growth
